Meet Party Cat!

I was tinkering around this week doing some vibe coding, and built Party Cat – a simple, open-source web app for party planning. It’s now live and free at https://partycat.app.

I’m not exactly a party animal myself, but I do love a good list to dodge party cat-astrophes! I made this kitten-kaboodle to help me track all the RSVPs and todos for my son’s birthday party.

  • RSVP Tracker: Smartly counts guests (eg “Smith Family” = 4 people, Joe & Steve = 2 people, etc).
  • Todo Management: Keeps planning tasks on track.
  • Shopping List: Gotta get the food purrr-fect.

Under the hood it’s built with simple HTML, CSS, and JavaScript – no complex frameworks. You can use it without an account (it stores data locally in your browser), or you can create an account if you want to use it across multiple devices. (I had fun exploring Supabase for that part – very impressed!)

Honestly, this was built on a total whim. But I love the end product! It was super satisfying to go from concept to a working app really quickly, with the help of Claude Code. And this is what I love most about vibe coding; sometimes the simplest or silliest ideas are the most fun to make and share.

Wanna take a peek?

If you’re curious about the code, or fancy tinkering yourself, check out the GitHub repo. Oh, and if you’re planning a party any time soon, give it a go! I’d love to know what you think.
